Yesterday was another busy day for our team here at Michlmayr's, as we had to re-install the church clock at Ludham (St Catherines) in Norfolk. Details of the big day can be found here, many thanks to the EDP.
More details can also be found from the BBC website, which had a feature of the event on the news last night. For those that missed it, the BBC have since uploaded the report onto their iplayer. To use the player please click on the link and follow the instructions on how to install it. This is the link for the footage.
It's a shame they didn't quite get the name right (Micklemyre) but at least it sounds the same.
We had the clock for sometime before we got the all clear and it took us approx 2 months to completely overhaul it. According to Mr Michlmayr the turret clock was built around 1676 by John Begulay a clockmaker from Swanton Morley and a blacksmith Matthias Fairchild. The wooden dial is dated 1762, with a blue and red painted pediment. The clock was later fitted with a Thwaites and Reed setting dial.
Watch this space as we will soon post some more pictures of the clock
taken by our team.
